INTRODUCTION 'Lime in masonry construction' makes an important contribution to achieving the goals of sustainability in the built environment. This workshop will explore the diverse themes of sustainability through policy, practice, materials, design and waste management, with a focus on masonry construction. The event is being organised as part of the EPSRC funded Sustainable Masonry Construction (SUMACON) Network, which is coordinated from the University of Bristol. The event is in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University and the Scottish Lime Centre. The event will focus on establishing links between academia and industry in all parts of the UK with particular emphasis on the creation of new partnerships with institutions based in Scotland. The programme will include talks by University Researchers, Industrialists, Architects and Engineers from England, Wales and Scotland. Sessions will cover a range of topics addressing use of materials, research and development of new products and current technology with project case studies.
